Toddler Childcare in Norwood

Toddlers are explorers. Everything is new, everything is exciting — and everything ends up on the floor. At Norwood Academy, we embrace that energy. Our toddler program is designed around the natural curiosity of 1–3 year olds, giving children the space to discover the world at their own pace in a safe, structured, and joyful environment.

Development At This Stage

Development at this Stage

The toddler years are one of the most rapid periods of brain development in a child's life. Between ages 1 and 3, children are developing:

  • Language and communication skills
  • Independence and self-help skills (feeding, dressing, potty training)
  • Social skills — learning to share, take turns, and play alongside others
  • Physical coordination and gross motor skills
  • Early problem-solving and cause-and-effect thinking

Our curriculum is designed to support all of these areas — not through rigid instruction, but through child-centered play and guided exploration.

A Day in our Toddler Classroom

Our toddler daily routine balances structure and freedom, giving children the consistency they need while allowing plenty of room for discovery. A typical day includes:

  • Morning circle time — songs, movement, and group activities
  • Montessori-inspired free choice activities — sensory play, building, puzzles
  • Outdoor play in our secure playground
  • Storytime and language activities
  • Arts and creative expression
  • Rest time
  • Afternoon activities and pickup

Caregivers observe each child closely and adapt activities to meet individual developmental needs — because no two toddlers are the same.
